Hockey Asia Cup 2013 title tribute to Chua


Today will be held the tournament of the Asia Cup 2013 at Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium, Ipoh. It is the 9th edition of the Asia Cup since 1982.


Pakistan was the former finalist of world cup since 1971 is the favourite to grab the title other than South Korea and India. They won four times world champion and three times Asia Cup titles. 


Malaysia ranked 13th world hockey who are third in reserve list of World Cup 2014 has one foot in the World Cup as they await the winner of Oceania Cup to sneak in through the back door.


Meanwhile the defending champion, South Korea is already qualified for World Cup 2014 can afford to keep their foot off the gas and use the tournament as a warm up en route to the 2014 World Cup.


Paul Revington believe bringing home a maiden gold medal after the best finish at the tournament was a bronze medal in 2007.


If Malaysia win the tournament, they will drag India along into the World Cup but if Pakistan win the title of the Asia Cup 2013, the chances for India is over.

Malaysia will start campaign against Taiwan today at 8 p.m.

National hockey player died in a road crash


Chua Boon Huat, a national hockey player died in a road accident today. Tan Kuai Neo did not expect to lose her son also claimed as the same tragedy as her husband ago.

Nine years ago, Tan's husband, Chua Peng Hock died in an accident while riding a motorcycle with another vehicle, and now her beloved youngest son, Chua Boon Huat was a victim of a road accident too.

"I was surprised by the news of my son's death  as same tragedy of his father also went in the accident.

"Her son's girlfriend was called her via  phone at 4 a.m to clarify on Boon Huat's accident", she said today.

Boon Huat, 33, was killed when his car, a Proton Perdana rammed into water tankers at the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) near Kelana Jaya LRT station, at 2.25 a.m.


Tan and her children as soon as possible move to Kuala Lumpur from Malacca and arrived at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) at 6 a.m. this morning.

Chua Boon Huat, fourth in family has a brother and two sisters

"Boon Huat is a child who likes to talk, obedient and cheerful," said Tan Kuai Neo.

Chua Boon Huat is a Malaysia hockey national player was a hockey player since in the school. He represent the National School Bandar Hilir, Malacca while in the standard four and played for Malacca High School for secondary school level.



"The last time I met Boon Huat is at the end of June, when he has free time and there is no match," Tan said, adding that no strange signs show before the accident. 

She said that her son's body will be cremated on Monday in Semabok, Malacca.

Melancholy atmosphere surrounding the hospital morgue when Chua Boon Huat's family attended the pending Boon Huat's autopsy until 10 a.m.

Boon Huat's eldest brother, a former national rugby player 1998-2004, Nor Aliff Najmi Chua, 42 (converted to Islam since eight years ago) said that hockey is his (Boon Huat) life. His interests in hockey since primary school after Aliff Najmi introduce  the sport to him.

Aliff received the news on his youngest brother's death at 4. a.m and rushed to KL immediately.

"I don't expect him to go to early because we love him very much but I pleased with divine certainty," he said.

It was so upset after Malaysia successfully beat South Africa had succumbed to England 2-1. We almost tied England 1-1 but the last 13th minutes goal from England was really upset to Malaysia fans.

Harimau Malaya a bit loose in the first action match against Pakistan tied 4-4 and then created a first victory 6-4 against South Africa should show actual rise against England today at 7.15 p.m (Malaysia Local Time). 
 
Paul Revington still not satisfied with the game but the triumph over South Africa made him think how to recreate another victory against England today.

All teams will continue to second round (losing dead match) but we must try to avoid to meet Argentina or Germany, only the victory will lead Malaysia in pool B. According to position in pool A, South Korea and Japan are in third and fourth place. So the winner (leader) of pool B will face either Japan or South Korea.
 
Paul reviewed the matches against Pakistan and South Africa and will ensure that each player will comply with all directions given later.

Malaysia was so upset after draw 4-4 with Pakistan at Hockey Stadium Taman Daya, Johor Bahru. Although Malaysia ahead with 4-2 but last 5 minutes Pakistan 2 more goal by penalty stroke and corner.

Meanwhile No. 1 World ranking, Germany tied 1-1 with Argentina, while Japan and South Korea scored 3-3.

Revington back down to field

 

The mood at the Bukit Jalil Stadium back to cheerful during training session. Revington as Malaysia Hockey Coach return to guide hockey senior squad for preparation for World Hockey League semi-final in JohorBahru from 29 June to 7 July 2013.


Recently the training was conducted by assistant coach Arul Selvaraj. However yesterday, the camp training atmosphere back to hear the South African-born 39-year-old voice and the players see the presence of so enthusiastically receiving Revington.

 
Revington said he was so happy that all the problems have been solved amicably. He praised Arul as assistant coach and other coaching staff that worked well during past two days of his absence.

 

Issues about Revington considered completed

 
The meeting yesterday was held between Revington, national youth coach Muhd Dhaarma Raj and Director of Program Developement 1MAS Lim Chiow Chuan at MSN, Bukit Jalil yesterday.Zolkples Embong said all parties involved have agreed to focus on their job.


 
"Revington will continue as a senior hockey coach until at least semi-finals at the World Hockey League at Johor Bharu starting 29 June 2013" said Zolkples, Director of MSN.

However, Zolkples said the future of South Africa's coach after the campaign ended remains unknown.

This situation would be happy to Malaysia Hockey Confederation (MHC), which still requires his services after the 2011's best coaches managed to improve the players' performance less than a year he guided the senior hockey.

 

Revington withdraw resignation

 


Paul Revington has drawn from his decision to resign as a coach of the senior national hockey. He continuing  to conduct the hockey team at least until the semi-final of the world hockey league starting 29 June 2013 in Johor Bahru. 

 
It is informed by YB Encik Khairy Jamaludin, Youth and Sports Minister told reporters after a closed-door meeting with him (Paul Revington) recently.

Khairy personally will handle the issue with Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, President of Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC).

 

Paul Revington email a letter of resignation

  
Malaysia Hockey Coach, Paul Revington had made a decision to retire from continuing as national coach after he sent email a letter of resignation.


 
Through email sent by him, he alleging interference in the senior hockey team management from Malaysia Youth Coach, K.Dharmaraj and Director of Hockey Development 1MAS, Lim Chiow Chuan. 

Majid Manjit Abdullah, Malaysia Hockey Confederation (MHC) deputy president who chaired an emergency meeting plead Revington to reconsider his decision.
